Job summary

Halff is seeking a Public Works Intern for the Fort Worth, TX office to support our Civil Engineering team on Public Works projects during a 2027 summer internship. The role involves CAD drafting, plan preparation, and cost estimation under supervision, with a 40-hour work week and no housing provided.

The internship runs June 7 through August 13, 2027, and interns are paid hourly. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) and demonstrate strong communication,

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong relationship and team-building abilities.
• Self-motivated with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist in preparing plans, specs, and cost estimates for Public Works and Transportation projects.
• Perform drafting CAD work.
• Carry out design calculations and analyses.
• Help prepare permit applications and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with surveyors, architects, and contractors.
• Attend client and regulatory meetings.

Job description

Public Works Intern

Halff is actively seeking an Intern for our Public Works team in our Fort Worth, TX office. The Civil Engineering Intern will help with a Public Works projects. The Internship will begin on June 7th, 2027, and conclude on August 13th, 2027.

Interns are paid hourly and work full-time (40 hours/week), typically 8a-5p Monday through Friday.

Halff does not pay for or provide housing for Internships.

What You Will Do

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Public Works and Transportation projects
• Perform drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

What You Will Need

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
• Great communication skills
