Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Project Construction team at Chesterfield Power Station. The role supports CCR program activities across multiple sites, including Chesterfield, Bremo, Possum Point and Chesapeake, with significant field involvement.

You will assist in scale excavation, water treatment, scheduling, project controls, and turn-key construction tasks, while learning techniques used to evaluate options and provide technical recommendations.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Engineering program at a four-year college or university.
• Preferred majors: Civil Engineering and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Support functions across major project stages including excavation, water treatment, and construction activities.
• Provide technical input across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, or controls engineering.
• Review engineering drawings and verify scope and construction adherence in the field.
• Learn fundamental engineering principles and perform calculations and analyses as requested.
• Coordinate with internal engineers, environmental personnel, and site teams to develop engineering knowledge.

Job Summary

The Project Construction team at Dominion Energy is looking for an Engineering Intern. The Intern will part of the project at Chesterfield Power Station but would work with the CCR program supporting the engineering permitting and construction of the various projects including Chesterfield, Bremo, Possum Point and possibly Chesapeake. Chesterfield will be under active excavation and Possum will be constructing a water treatment facility. The CCR program is a great opportunity to learn and grow personally and professionally.

• Candidate may perform various support functions for various stages of major projects including large scale excavation, excavation dewatering, water treatment, material processing (drying and screening), transportation (truck and rail), scheduling, project controls and project management, miscellaneous construction activities, commissioning and transition to commercial operation.
• Provide technical input, in the discipline of mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, or controls engineering, through various phases of project construction and execution.
• Candidate may be involved in scope document creation based off of input provided by supervisor or technical leads. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify technical scope inclusion. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify construction adherence during field implementation. Candidate will support lead engineers in researching and answering technical questions as requested.
• Candidate will be expected to utilize fundamental engineering principles to perform calculations, analysis, research tasks, or problem solve.
• Candidate will be expected to learn and become familiar with techniques, approaches, and practices used to evaluate options and provide recommendations.
• Candidate will be expected to coordinate with experienced internal engineers, environmental personnel, or site teams to develop professional engineering working knowledge.

This opportunity allows to work in a team environment on a large civil project that has significant electrical and mechanical components. Plenty of opportunities to learn and grow engineering skills with field experiences.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

• Must be enrolled in an Engineering degree program from an ABET accredited Engineering program at a four year college or university. Preferred majors: Civil Engineering
• Graduation date of Spring 2028 to Fall 2029
• Candidates must have a 3.0 minimum GPA
• Must be a hard working individual that doesn’t mind working a significant part of the day in the field getting hands on experience.
• Must work well in a team environment including internal and external personnel
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Hourly Rate

$27.00 - $29.00
