Job summary

Micron Technology, a leader in memory and storage solutions, seeks a Dry Etch Process Development Engineering Intern to contribute to experimental design, process optimization, and data analysis within a collaborative R&D environment.

Under mentorship, you will develop and analyze experiments, apply AI-enabled tools to improve data workflows, and present results to engineering and leadership teams. This internship provides broad exposure to semiconductor processing and memory technologies.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an MS or PhD in a technical field and enrolled for the internship period.
  • Knowledge of dry etch or plasma processing.
  • Experience with experimental design and data interpretation.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop innovative solutions to support future memory technologies and dry etch process development.
  • Develop, complete, and analyze experiments to optimize dry etch processes and improve product performance.
  • Perform statistical analysis of technology development and pilot manufacturing data to identify trends and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with process, equipment, integration, and multi-functional engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Apply AI-enabled analytical tools, programming, or automation solutions to improve data analysis and workflows.

The Dry Etch Process Development team develops and optimizes advanced plasma etch processes that enable future memory scaling and support groundbreaking semiconductor manufacturing. As a Dry Etch Process Development Engineering Intern, you will gain hands‑on experience developing and optimizing semiconductor etch processes in a collaborative research and development environment. Working under the mentorship of experienced engineers, you will contribute to a technical project focused on process development, experimentation, data analysis, and technology innovation. The internship provides broad exposure to semiconductor processing and culminates in a presentation of project results to engineering and leadership teams.

Responsibilities
  • Research and develop innovative solutions that support future memory technologies and advanced dry etch process development.
  • Develop, complete, and analyze experiments to optimize dry etch processes and improve product performance.
  • Perform statistical analysis of technology development and pilot manufacturing data to identify trends and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with process, equipment, integration, and multi‑functional engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Apply AI‑Enabled analytical tools, Leveraging AI, programming, or automation solutions to improve data analysis, engineering workflows, and technical decision‑making.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • Must remain enrolled as a student throughout the internship period.
  • Knowledge of dry etch semiconductor processing, plasma physics, or related semiconductor fabrication technologies.
  • Experience with experimental design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor process development, advanced manufacturing, or laboratory‑based research.
  • Experience with programming, scripting, data analytics, or Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to support engineering analysis and workflow optimization.
  • Familiarity with statistical software, data visualization tools, Python, JMP, MATLAB, or similar analytical platforms.
  • Experience conducting root‑cause analysis, failure analysis, or process optimization projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
