Job summary

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, invites interns to join the LNG Division for a summer 2027 program in Oak Creek, WI. The role provides real-world engineering experience with mentoring from seasoned professionals in Power Generation.

Interns will support LNG plants, travel to Whitewater and Ixonia, and receive compensation of $23.10 per hour plus paid holidays. The program starts May/June 2027 and runs through the summer.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering with graduation after July 2027.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Support LNG plants with equipment inspections.
  • Troubleshoot operation and maintenance issues.
  • Provide project support for small projects.
  • Assist in managing small projects.
  • Improve equipment‑reliability.
  • Improve equipment and plant performance and optimization.
  • Review drawings and updates.
  • Review procedures and updates.
  • Ensure adherence to codes and standards.

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Intern - Power Generation Engineering - LNG Division in our Oak Creek, Wisconsin location. This position will also require travel to our Whitewater, WI and Ixonia WI sites, with Oak Creek, WI being the home base. This role will begin in May/June of 2027 and will be full-time through the summer. The hourly rate for this position is $23.10 with paid company holidays.

Intern - Power Generation Engineering - LNG Division


Energize your career in a progressive work environment through our engineering intern program, which gives you a chance to gain professional experience while enrolled in college, along with competitive pay. Your intern experience offers real-world experience through hands-on work in your field of study. Join a team of multi-disciplinary engineers supporting the operation, maintenance, performance and optimization of our LNG facilities. Receive mentoring and guidance from experienced engineers within Power Generation. Provide a vital support role to our generating fleet through a period of transition. Network with other engineering intern students throughout the fleet.

Job Responsibilities


Interns could be assigned to support the LNG Plants by:

  • Equipment inspections
  • Troubleshooting operation and maintenance issues
  • Project support
  • Assist in managing small projects
  • Equipment reliability
  • Equipment and plant performance and optimization
  • Drawing reviews and updates
  • Procedure reviews and updates
  • Ensure adherence to codes and standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with a graduation date after July 2027.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Valid driver's license.

Pay Range Minimum: 23.10

Pay Range Maximum: 27.55

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
