Job description

Somerset County is seeking an intern to work part-time in the Planning Division 16 to 24 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with transportation planning initiatives
• Prepare maps and graphics using GIS
• Support the development of reports, technical memoranda, and planning documents
• Assist with the preparation of materials for public meetings, stakeholder engagement, and visioning sessions
• Research best practices for transportation planning, complete streets, and multimodal design
• Coordinate with County staff across planning disciplines, including land development, environmental, and preservation planning

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in planning, transportation planning, geography, civil engineering, public policy, or a related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
