Job summary

Fernbrook Family Center offers internships for Masters level students in Social Work, Psychology, and related fields. Interns work under a qualified supervisor, handling assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and a range of clinical and non-clinical activities aligned with program learning requirements.

Interns provide psychotherapy or skills services to diverse clients, participate in staff meetings, and complete required trainings.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be enrolled in a master's degree program related to Social Work, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and other pertinent related fields
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, valid automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record
• Must pass criminal background check based on agency and Department of Human Services requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide psychotherapy and/or skills services to children, adults, and families
• Conduct diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility for services
• Complete all documentation according to content and quality standards
• Collaborate and consult with internal and external providers
• Actively seek out supervisory consultation and direction as needed
• Complete mandatory trainings for skill maintenance or enhancement
• Regularly attend and engage in a way that meets your needs in staff meetings and group supervision
• Communicate and reflect Fernbrook Family Center’s mission internally and externally
• Comply with agency policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Fernbrook Family Center provides internships for Masters level students from the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, etc. Masters level student intern work done under the direct supervision of a qualified site supervisor from Fernbrook. All services provided by the Intern will be reviewed by the supervisor including written work (i.e. assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes) and interactions with clients. The student intern will engage in a variety of clinical and non-clinical activities related to their specific discipline and consistent with their individual learning requirements from their program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Masters Level Interns are not responsible for the supervision of other employees. They are expected to coordinate services with other Fernbrook employees who share caseloads.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods sitting, listening, and observing or working on a computer.
• Physical health and stamina to work on a consistent basis with children and adults who have varying needs.
• Occasional situations may occur where staff need to be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Expected hours of work are flexible and generally occur between 7:00am – 7:00pm.
• Expected to travel to and from a client’s home, community settings, Fernbrook offices, and other locations.
• The number of hours will be dependent on internship requirements
• Interns are able to work up to 40 hours per week. Hours over 40 will need to be preapproved for overtime by supervisor.
