Job summary

Peoples Gas Light & Coke Co, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Intern- Gas Storage Engineering in our Fisher, Illinois location. This role offers hands-on exposure to underground gas storage, LNG processes, field piping, and high‑pressure gas systems as part of a supportive engineering team.

Qualified students pursuing civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, industrial, systems engineering, or petroleum engineering with a 2.8 GPA or higher and valid driver’s license will gain

• High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
• Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Systems Engineering & Design, and Petroleum Engineering or closely related degree with a graduation date after July 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 2.8.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Processes and equipment the Interns and Co-Ops could be assigned to support.
• Underground gas storage – methane stored at 1750 psi 4000 ft. below surface
• Field piping, valves, and gas storage wells
• Station piping, valves, regulators, meters, heat exchangers, and processes
• Withdrawal process with slug catchers, tri-ethylene glycol dehydrators, reboilers and thermal oxidizers
• Injection process with three 5000 hp natural gas powered compressors
• CO2 Removal process
• LNG Liquefaction process – convert methane from gas to liquid at -260 degrees F
• LNG Vaporization process – convert liquid LNG back to a gas

Pay Range Minimum: $23.10

Pay Range Maximum: $27.55

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.
