Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Firmware Test Intern to join a world-class lab in Milwaukee, WI. You will design automation scripts, document procedures, and perform test activities for new industrial automation products.

You will report to the Firmware and Software Test Manager and work on-site full-time, gaining exposure to a technical environment and real-world applications while developing professional skills and networking within the company.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor visas.
• Electrical or computer engineering focus is preferred.
• Must be enrolled for at least one more semester after internship; graduation Dec 2027+.
• Local or within 50 miles of Milwaukee/Mequon for onsite work.
• GPA minimum 2.75; competitive campus recruiting is a plus.

Job Description

If you like getting hands-on and pushing products to their limits, you will want to join our firmware test team as a Firmware Test Intern. You will work in a world-class lab within a product development group testing new industrial automation products to ensure quality customer outcomes. Learn from experienced engineers in a deep, technical environment in which the theory you learn in school meets real-world applications.

You will report to the Firmware and Software Test Manager, and be on-site/in-person, full-time in Milwaukee, WI.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design and development of scripts for automating test procedures

The Essentials - You Will Have:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

• Pursuing bachelors or masters degree in electrical or computer engineering, or similar degree from an accredited college or university
• Must be enrolled for at least one more semester of school after the internship concludes (graduation date of December 2027 or later)
• Local or attending school in the greater Milwaukee area (within 50 miles from the Headquarter or Mequon location)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
• Preference given to students met on campus, at a national recruiting event, through a Rockwell Automation-hosted event or a targeted recruiting campaign.
• Basic programming (C++, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript)
• Basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
• Experience with Power Electronics or motors
• Experience with design capture toolsl>
• Be able to work with schematic drawings
• Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creoparametic, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, Matlab
• Experience with industrial automation environments including PLC or drives programming
• Experience using Agile methodology
