Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Atlanta, GA, is seeking an Intern in Fire Protection Engineering to support day-to-day TEC projects and gain hands-on experience with fire systems planning, implementation and evaluation within a leading industry team.

You will assist senior engineers on field data collection, design coordination with other disciplines, CAD drafting, code analyses, inspections and commissioning, while building strong communication with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering (or in progress).
• Adept at working on fast-paced projects and in a collaborative team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Field work and data collection for design.
• Coordinate design work with related engineering disciplines.
• Work with equipment suppliers, vendors, and fire departments to obtain necessary information for design completion.
• Evaluate new and existing buildings using building and fire codes.
• Code consulting and planning, life safety code and hazard analysis.
• Perform field construction inspections and acceptance testing.
• Perform commissioning of fire protection systems.
• Performance-based and prescriptive fire protection consulting.
• Interact with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
• Use computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings and construction documents.
• Design work as needed.
• Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.

The Fire Protection Engineer Intern assists and supports day-to-day TEC projects and tasks. The duties of this position will vary daily and will require flexibility and the ability to prioritize tasks. This position will work closely with the US Fire department on planning, implementation and evaluation of fire systems operations.
