Job summary

Jensen Hughes invites a Finance Intern to rotate through FP&A, Accounting, and Project Accounting to gain a broad, hands-on view of how Finance supports the business. You’ll shadow professionals, work on real projects, and contribute to reports and forecasts. The internship is onsite at our Columbia, MD office.

You will learn Excel-based tools, participate in month-end close activities, and engage in field operations support while developing a practical understanding of finance functions.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a student in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
• Curious, motivated, and eager to learn.
• Comfortable with Excel and interested in learning new tools.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Rotate across Finance teams to see the variety of career paths available.
• Shadow professionals and learn the “why” behind the work we do.
• Assist with hands-on tasks like data entry, updating reports, and joining team meetings.
• Learn to use tools such as Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, and CRM systems.
• Support reporting and forecasting processes, from monthly spend reports to utilization tracking.
• Get exposure to accounting processes such as general ledger reconciliations and month-end close.
• Contribute to meaningful projects like backlog updates, project setups, clearing account research, project forecast review, month end revenue close review, and general field operations support.
