Job summary

Dominion Energy is offering an internship at our Locks TSB in Petersburg, VA. Interns will work alongside experienced electrical equipment personnel, assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage equipment and procuring materials and tools.

Successful candidates are pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical disciplines, with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a Spring 2028 or later graduation date.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, Electric Utility Substation & Relay Technology, or a related field.
• Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
• Anticipated graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.

Responsibilities

• Assist with testing of Substation equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, regulators, CCVT, etc.).
• Assist with Aerial lift testing, Infrared testing, and oil sample collection with DGA review.
• Support procurement of materials, spare parts, and tools.
• Gain exposure to the Electrical Equipment Development Program and on-the-job training.

Job Summary

This internship opportunity will be located at our Locks TSB in Petersburg, VA.

Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion Electrical Equipment personnel providing technical assistance to substation and power station personnel in the installation, maintenance and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment including procurement of materials, spare parts and specific tools. These positions will be introduced to the Electrical Equipment Development Program for view of employment requirements of successfully completing the Development Program.

Interns may assist experienced personnel employees including the following activities including Substation equipment (transformer, circuit breaker, regulator, CCVT, etc.) testing; Aerial lift testing; Infrared testing; Transformer/circuit breaker oil sample collection and DGA review; Transformer processing; Battery and charger installation and testing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

• Strongly prefer candidates that desire "hands on" experience vs. "design" experience
• Strongly prefer candidates with good problem-solving skills while working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Math and technical/mechanical aptitude required
• Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and organization

Must Meet Physical Requirements Including

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity, color vision, hearing, climbing, stooping, standing, and bending.
• Weight restriction of 290 pounds due to equipment limits.

Education Requirements

• Must be pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, Electric Utility Substation & Relay Technology, or a related engineering or technical discipline.
• Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
• Must have an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
