Job summary

Great Plains Manufacturing, a Kubota Company, is offering a 2027 Summer Internship for Electrical Engineer Interns in Salina, KS. Interns work full-time from mid-May to early-August on-site in the Salina area, with housing provided for those outside the area.

Interns complete a project with a mentor in Electrical Engineering related to agricultural equipment design and enjoy a 4-day work week, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., integrating hands-on learning with company activities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Ag Systems or other relevant Engineering major
• Willingness to live within commuting distance of the assigned location, typically in the Salina, KS or Abilene, KS area for the duration of the Summer housing provided within 20-mile radius if needed
• Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week) during the Summer
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening test within a week of your first day of employment
• Providing proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States on first day, and completion of I-9
• Valid driver’s license and transportation to travel to and from the Salina area during the Summer

Electrical Engineer Intern

2027 Summer Internship – Salina, KS

Great Plains Manufacturing, a Kubota Company, is currently taking applications for our 2027 Summer Internship Program. These internships will be on-site in the Salina, KS area.

Our Summer Interns work full-time from Mid-May to Early-August and earn $20 per hour. Engineering interns enjoy a 4-day work week with a work schedule of Monday to Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Housing is provided in Salina, KS for interns who currently reside outside the area.

Each of our Summer Interns complete a project with a mentor and supportive peers, allowing them to apply their college knowledge in the workplace and gain practical work experience. We also organize activities during the summer to give you the opportunity to get to know other interns and Great Plains employees through casual events like laser tag, paintball, bowling, and community events.

Our Electrical Engineer Interns will be assigned to one of our facilities in the Salina, KS area and work on a project in Electrical Engineering as it relates to the design process of agricultural equipment.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Ag Systems or other relevant Engineering major
• Willingness to live within commuting distance of the assigned location, typically in the Salina, KS or Abilene, KS area for the duration of the Summer
  • Housing will be provided within a 20-mile radius of your assigned location, if needed.
• Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week) during the Summer
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening test within a week of your first day of employment
• Providing, upon your first day of employment, satisfactory proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States, and your completion of an Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to the Salina, KS area and commute to and from work and activities throughout the Summer

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Completed at least 30 credit hours by beginning of internship
• Self-motivated with good project management, organization and planning skills
• Ability to communicate plans and information in a concise, effective manner in both verbal and written forms
• Exhibit a willingness to learn
• Critical thinking skills and a positive approach to solving problems
• Team player mindset and outstanding interpersonal skills
• Ability to work closely with other engineers as well as team members on the production floor
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
• Basic CAD software knowledge helpful
