State of South Dakota, Department of Education, is offering two Summer Internship positions in Pierre, SD. The interns will gain hands-on experience in the Office of Standards, Leadership, and Learning, Office of Title Programs, and Office of Assessment and Accountability.

Interns will work with state-level specialists to support educators and administrators in SD schools. Applicants must be current students (6+ credits) for upcoming/preceding semester.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student in upcoming semester or immediately preceding semester.
  • By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
  • Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and students of SD institutions.
  • It is preferred that the applicant be pursuing a degree in Education or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Editing and formatting documents, presentations, and reports.
  • Supporting the planning and coordination of meetings, trainings, and conferences.
  • Organizing and maintaining digital and physical files.
  • Conducting research and compiling information to support program initiatives.
  • Assisting with data entry, analysis, and visualization.
  • Assisting with communication for workshops.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to brainstorming and planning sessions.

  • APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.
Position Description

The Division of Learning and Instruction is hiring two summer internship positions. Interns will have the opportunity to work with staff in the Office of Standards, Leadership, and Learning, Office of Title Programs, and Office of Assessment and Accountability.

Interns will gain valuable perspective and experience through working with state level specialists that work to support educators and administrators in South Dakota schools and districts.

Key Responsibilities
  • editing and formatting documents, presentations, and reports;

  • conducting research and compiling information to support program initiatives;

Qualifications

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

It is preferred that the applicant be pursuing a degree in Education or related field.
