Job summary

Spire Inc. is seeking a Damage Prevention Specialist Intern. The role targets an enthusiastic student or recent graduate for hands-on projects in the natural gas industry, with mentorship and paid compensation.

Ideal candidates will be enrolled in construction management, engineering, or business administration and commit to 35–40 hours per week during the summer, maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA. A strong work ethic and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as an undergraduate rising junior, senior or graduate student in fall 2027 pursuing a degree in construction management, engineering, business administration or relevant degree.
• Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
• Must be able to work 35–40 hours per week during the summer internship.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Participation in All Inclusive Onboarding and Project Poster Symposium required.

Responsibilities

Spire is seeking a Damage Prevention Specialist Intern. We seek an enthusiastic, career minded student or recent graduate to join our operations. Our paid internship position affords students the opportunity to learn and be mentored. As an Intern, you may complete various projects and perform administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned department and the natural gas industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and complete projects based on departmental needs
• Build Cost Sheets for repairs related to third party damages
• Invoice repair bills through our Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) system
• Record and close out reports for payments received
• Coordinate training meetings with contractors and municipalities
• Participate in damage prevention training to in-house crews and service technicians
• All other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

• Must be able to work 35 - 40 hours per week throughout the summer internship.
• Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
• Microsoft Office proficiency required with most positions.
• Must participate in All Inclusive Onboarding and Project Poster Symposium

Physical demands, environment and schedule

• Will involve both office and field environments including uneven terrain, inclement weather, and large equipment. Some travel may be required.
