Job summary

Compeer Financial is seeking collaborative, innovative interns for hands-on experience in the credit and underwriting field. This internship targets juniors or non-graduating seniors in college and focuses on the credit delivery process and client services.

The role offers full-time summer work with housing and transportation arrangements at Bloomington, Edwards, or Monmouth, IL locations. Applicants must be pursuing a relevant bachelor's degree and commit to summer 2027 participation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business, agricultural economics, or business administration with at least two years completed.
• Solid organizational and communication skills, with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Proven client service skills and effective teamwork are essential.
• Understanding of farm production methods and farm business management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn credit delivery processes, including financial analysis and underwriting loan requests.
• Assist in loan servicing and credit-related services for Compeer clients.
• Collaborate with the Credit team and other functions to exchange information and support client needs.
• Present a professional image of Compeer Financial in all contacts.

This is a paid internship; however, the intern must provide their own housing and transportation. Business related transportation and expenses will be paid by the organization. This intern will work full-time through the summer of 2027. The internship is located out of either our Bloomington, IL; Edwards, IL; Monmouth, IL office locations. If pursuing internship credit through your university, it is your responsibility to consult with your advisor and review the internship's job description to ensure it meets the minimum eligibility requirements.

The contributions you will make:

This internship will provide hands‑on experience in the credit and underwriting field, ideally for juniors or non‑graduating seniors in college. The intern will learn the credit delivery process within Compeer including financial analysis, underwriting loan requests, loan servicing and other credit services for Compeer clients.

Essential Functions:

• Challenged to learn a significant amount of information during the course of the internship and take initiative to apply this information.
• Work independently with general supervision of day to day operations while taking initiative and complete responsibilities as assigned.
• Internally, work closely with the Credit team leader and other team members. Will also have frequent contact with other functions throughout the organization to exchange information and clarify or verify information. Externally, have contact with clients in providing an additional level of client service as needed. In all contacts, our interns are expected to present a professional image of Compeer Financial..

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must be working towards completing a bachelor's degree in agricultural business, agricultural economics or business administration, with at least two years completed.
• Solid organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, analytical, verbal and written communication and influencing skills are required.
• Proven client service skills and effective team skills are essential.
• Knowledge of farm production methods and products and a general understanding of farm business management and finance preferred.
• Demonstrate effective team skills.
• Understanding of and ability to use various computer, both business and financial, applications is required.
• Solid understanding of credit processing and servicing activities, accounting principles and practices, and credit analysis procedures.

How we will take care of you:

Actual hourly rate offered is dependent upon year in school, work experience, transferable skills, business needs and market demands. The hourly rate range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Base Pay

$19 — $20 USD
