Alvarez & Marsal invites Summer 2027 interns to join the Corporate Transaction Tax & Advisory (CTTA) team in New York. You will assist with tax due diligence, gather and analyze financial and tax information, and support transaction-related engagements across buy- and sell-side projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist tax due diligence and transaction-related projects.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze financial and tax information for client engagements.
  • Research federal, state, and international tax matters.
  • Prepare client deliverables, presentations, and reports.
  • Attend internal meetings and client calls to gain exposure to CTTA services.
  • Maintain project trackers and coordinate requests for engagement teams.

The Team

A&M's Corporate Transaction Tax & Advisory (CTTA) team is composed of seasoned tax professionals experienced in providing practical tax advice to corporate buyers and sellers throughout the transaction life cycle. By utilizing an integrated approach with A&M professionals with deep operating and financial-related experience, the team uses a focused and tailored approach to rapidly identify and understand potential deal breakers, value drivers, and other areas of specific interest to our clients. Our professionals advise on all aspects of M&A, including structuring, due diligence, and post-deal integration, as well as core tax planning matters such as internal restructurings, tax attribute modeling and planning, and other strategic initiatives – helping clients navigate complex transactions and optimize outcomes. The team has significant experience supporting both buy- and sell-side transactions across industries including healthcare, financial institutions, energy, technology, and consumer products.

How You Will Contribute

As a member of the Corporate Transaction Tax & Advisory (CTTA) team, you will:

  • Assist team members with tax due diligence and transaction-related projects.
  • Help gather, organize, and analyze financial and tax information for client engagements.
  • Conduct research on a variety of federal, state and international tax matters.
  • Support the preparation of client deliverables, presentations, and reports.
  • Attend internal meetings and client calls to gain exposure to corporate transaction tax and advisory services.
  • Assist with maintaining project trackers, coordinating requests, and supporting engagement teams.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals across the Tax practice to support client needs.
  • Seek out opportunities to understand others’ experiences, perspectives, and differences.
  • Build internal relationships with other members of the Tax team.
Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a JD (2L), LL.M (Taxation), Master of Science in Taxation or Master of Accounting with an emphasis in Tax.
  • Definitive plans for meeting minimum educational requirements for CPA eligibility and licensure in the state of your assigned office location or membership to a State Bar.
  • Interest in tax advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction-related services.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop professionally in a client-service environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment-based sponsorship now or in the future. A&M will not sponsor applicants for US work visa status for this role.

Compensation Statement

The hourly rate is $45 per hour.
