Job summary

RTX invites you to join our engineering development program in East Hartford. You will support engine tests, perform data analysis, and learn validation methods across Pratt & Whitney product lines. This internship path leads to a full-time role after graduation.

You will rotate through disciplines, gain hands-on experience, and build a foundation in aero/functional, mechanical, and engine control understanding while contributing to safety and performance goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Science & Technology obtained by start date.
  • Experience in a mechanical / aero test environment or engine data analysis.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for development engine tests and functional validation across P&W product lines.
  • Responsible for test and analysis plans and coordination, instrumentation requirements coordination, pre-test predictions, test procedure development & methods, on-site /remote test coverage, test data management and validation, first pass post-test data analysis and test reporting.
  • Active participation in discipline improvement activities and knowledge management.
  • Interact with EDSI Systems Analysis Groups, Module Centers, Controls, Instrumentation, IT and Product Validation Groups to ensure propulsion system satisfies requirements.
  • Travel, off-shift and weekend work are required when necessary.
  • Some travel is required to engine test sites and customer/partner sites.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide engineering support for development engine tests and functional validation across the P&W product lines (Commercial, Military, and Industrial), while focusing on engine systems functional understanding, learning and validation through both analytical tools and data acquisition from testing.
  • Responsible for test and analysis plans and coordination, instrumentation requirements coordination, pre-test predictions, test procedure development & methods, on-site /remote test coverage, test data management and validation, first pass post-test data analysis and test reporting and documentation for all propulsion systems tests and functional validation.
  • Active participation in discipline improvement activities and knowledge management.
  • Requires daily interaction and integration work with EDSI Systems Analysis Groups, Module Centers, Controls, Instrumentation, IT and Product Validation Groups to ensure that the propulsion system satisfies its functional requirements.Travel, off-shift and weekend work are required when necessary.
  • Some travel is required to our engine test sites and customer / partner sites
  • 1st shift position with occasional off shift work required when needed
What You Will Learn:
  • Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney.
  • Develop a complete understanding of the engine system, including aero/functional, mechanical & engine control
  • Build knowledge and skills to develop complex test procedures that range from normal operation to significantly off schedule.
Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Experience in a mechanical / aero test environment or engine data analysis.

Relocation Eligibility

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
