Job summary

WEC Business Services LLC, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Construction Safety Intern in our Chicago, Illinois location for Summer 2027. The internship is full-time during Summer 2027 with potential for part-time during the academic year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, HSED, or GED required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Public Health, or related field with graduation after July 2027.
• Valid driver’s license and minimum 2.8 GPA.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Health & Safety initiatives.
• Perform industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for various agents to determine exposures.
• Audit health and safety performance through observation and inquiry.
• Identify improvement opportunities and inform facility management.
• Serve as a professional resource for all employees with health and safety support.
• Deliver health and safety training programs and materials.
• Assist in development and implementation of procedures, policies, and programs.
• Support Health & Safety Consultants with program development and implementation.
• Maintain good working relationships with facility employees and leaders.

Education

Job Summary

The Illinois Safety and Health Team provides support to Operations to ensure the safety of all employees at PGL and NSG. Services provided include training, industrial hygiene monitoring, site safety observations, safety meeting facilitation, injury and illness data analysis, development of safety communications, and technical support on all safety and health topics. The Safety and Health Team assists in providing a safe workplace for all employees.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct Health & Safety Initiatives
• Conduct industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for various physical, biological and chemical agents to determine employee exposures
• Audit health and safety performance through observation and inquiry
• Identify improvement opportunities and inform facility management of issues and solutions
• Act as a professional resource for all levels of employees while providing support services on health and safety
• Deliver health and safety training programs and materials
• Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and programs relating to health and safety
• Assist Health & Safety Consultants with program development and implementation
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with facility employees and department leaders

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
• Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Public Health, or a closely related degree with a graduation date after July 2027.
• Valid driver's license
• Minimum GPA of 2.8

Pay Range Minimum: $21.30

Pay Range Maximum: $24.60

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
