GFT's Construction Management Intern program runs mid-May through mid-August in Independence, KS. Join a dynamic, award-winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm to gain real-world experience, learn from seasoned leaders, and contribute to projects on schedule and within budget.

You will assist with construction observation, submittals, schedule reports, and project documentation, while developing teamwork and communication skills in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an accredited degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Demonstrated interest through coursework, internships, or related work.
• Ability to interface with all levels of personnel and management.

Responsibilities

• Support client projects by observing and inspecting construction activities.
• Interface with the project team and task managers.
• Review and update submittal status reports.
• Assist with preparing schedule reports.
• Maintain project files and logs, and manage the online document control system.
• Attend project meetings and help keep minutes.

What you'll be challenged to do:

During your internship,you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing construction services for a wide variety of projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship byexperienced construction leaders and professionalswith your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full-time employees.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Support real client projects by participating in construction observation and/or inspection of construction activities.
• Interface with the project team and task managers.
• Review and update submittal status reports.
• Assist with preparing schedule reports.
• Maintain project files/documentation including logs.
• Manage online project document control system.
• Attend project meetings and assist with keeping minutes.

Education | Experience:

What you'll bring to our firm:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated interest in construction management through applied coursework, prior internships, or other work experiences.
• Must have the ability to interface with all levels of personnel and management.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Will require outside work in a variety of weather conditions.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
