The City of Indianapolis & Marion County offers a temporary internship in the Communications Division to support public outreach, communications and marketing for municipal government.
You will update social media, plan and edit newsletters, draft news releases, design marketing materials, refresh websites, attend meetings, engage with community groups, and help coordinate events while contributing new ideas and directions.
This is a temporary/seasonal position.
Position is responsible for assisting the Communications Division with public outreach, communication and marketing efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communication, public relations and marketing while working for municipal government.

Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space. Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations). Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus. Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired, but not required. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design is a plus. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with media, constituents and key stakeholders. Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines. Strong belief in a collaborative work environment, continuing education and professional development Work is conducted mostly in a standard office environment.
