Job summary

IMC Construction is seeking a motivated VDC Intern to support BIM and VDC technology across preconstruction and construction phases. You will work closely with the VDC team and project stakeholders to develop visual solutions and improve coordination and collaboration.

The internship offers exposure to BIM processes, project planning, and innovative construction technology, with opportunities to learn Autodesk software and BIM best practices in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a construction‑related degree; Architectural Drafting focus preferred but not required.
• Strong interest in VDC and BIM; proficiency with computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Support BIM & VDC Technology: Assist with CAD/BIM apps including Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, Google Earth, AutoCAD, Bluebeam.
• Assist Preconstruction Efforts: Help Sales and Estimating teams with planning activities.
• Create Visual Project Solutions: Document estimate assumptions and construction strategies through visuals and modeling.
• Support Construction Operations: Help develop BIM Execution Plans for projects.
• Develop 4D Scheduling Models: Create 4D models integrating scheduling into project models.
• Promote BIM Best Practices: Assist in training staff on CAD/BIM software and processes.
• Support Innovation & Implementation: Help communicate BIM/VDC benefits and develop standards.

At IMC Construction, our VDC Interns play an important role in supporting the use of technology and Building Information Modeling (BIM) throughout both preconstruction and construction. Working closely with the VDC team and project stakeholders, this position helps develop visual solutions, improve project coordination, and enhance collaboration across departments.

We're looking for a motivated student who is eager to learn, enjoys technology, and is interested in applying digital construction tools to real-world projects. This internship provides hands‑on exposure to BIM processes, project planning, and innovative construction technology.

What You’ll Do

• Support BIM & VDC Technology: Assist with the implementation and use of various CAD and BIM applications, including Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, Google Earth, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
• Assist Preconstruction Efforts: Work closely with the Sales and Estimating teams to support project pursuits and planning activities.
• Create Visual Project Solutions: Help document estimate assumptions, qualifications, and construction strategies through visual representations and modeling tools.
• Support Construction Operations: Assist in the development and implementation of project-specific BIM Execution Plans.
• Develop 4D Scheduling Models: Support the creation of 4D models that integrate scheduling and sequencing information into project models.
• Promote BIM Best Practices: Assist VDC Specialists in training and supporting internal staff on CAD/BIM-related software and processes.
• Support Innovation & Implementation: Work with the VDC Manager to help communicate the benefits of BIM and VDC technologies and assist in developing standards and workflows.
