Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer at a Marathon refinery, you will:

  • Become familiar with industry codes and best practices.
  • Build critical thinking skills applied to refinery operations.
  • Gain an understanding of how all engineering disciplines work together as a cohesive team.
  • Work on a specific portion of the refining process with a team of professionals.
  • Possibly work in multiple areas of the refinery for a broad understanding of plant operations.
  • Expand your written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work environment.
Typical Co‑op Programs
  • Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Engineers – work on real‑world electrical and instrumentation projects, develop project management skills, support area teams, and manage projects of all sizes.
  • Reliability Electrical & Instrumentation Engineers – troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues, analyze equipment failures, develop solutions, submit Project Request Forms, and use electrical analysis software for coordination and Arc Flash studies.
  • Process Control / Technical Service Engineers – troubleshoot system power supplies, program control systems, replace hardware and software, install and troubleshoot communication networks, and monitor performance metrics.
Qualifications
  • Currently majoring in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time indefinite basis without need for employment visa sponsorship.
  • Availability for spring, summer, and fall semesters; multiple work terms preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a degree‑seeking program.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Hourly rate: $32.92 – $41.67 per hour.
