Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Findlay, Ohio, offers an accounting internship focused on SOX testing, budgeting, and financial data analysis. Interns gain on‑the‑job training across Accounting Areas in Findlay, San Antonio and Denver.

Credit for strong academic performance and suitability for a term-based schedule is expected. Interns must be accounting majors, authorized to work in the US, and available to work 40 hours per week during spring, summer or fall terms.

Qualifications

• Accounting major required; strong academic performance.
• Authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without sponsorship.
• Positions are available spring, summer, and fall semesters.
• Concurrent enrollment in a bachelor’s degree seeking program for the duration of the experience.
• Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Military experience is a plus.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week.
• MIN - $20.19 per hour / MAX - $25.24 per hour

• Analyzing and processing of business documents.
• Analysis of accounting and financial data in order to prepare proper financial statement journal entries.
• Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations.
• Preparation of tax information.
• Testing SOX and Non‑SOX controls in auditing.
• Assistance in preparing budgets.

• Refinery Accounting – (Various Locations – Summer Term)
• Tax Accounting (Findlay – All Terms)
• Audit Assurance & Advisory Services (Findlay and San Antonio* – All Terms) *Accounting major is preferred, but other business majors may be considered

Specific Duties

• Analyzing and processing of business documents.
