Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Summer 2027 Intern for the MEP team. This internship offers hands-on experience to learn what a career in construction is about, with real work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and low-voltage systems at a jobsite.

Intern duties depend on education and skill level, but you will help support project teams, observe MEP processes, and develop technical skills needed for larger, more complex projects.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required.
• General familiarity with construction concepts, practices and procedures is required.
• Enjoys collaboration and working with others to solve complex problems.

The MEP Internship role is involved in supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and low-voltage systems at a designated jobsite or project location. During the internship, students will have the opportunity to be exposed to complex building systems, understand the importance of effectively managing specialty MEP trades, and will have the opportunity to be assigned to larger, more complex projects that require dedicated attention to MEP. This is a rewarding career path that allows individuals to build technical expertise in an area pertinent to all buildings.
