Job Summary

The Academic Affairs & Research Intern for the Department of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Equity (AASAE) will work with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs & Research. This part-time internship has a pay rate of $17 per hour. Academic credit may also be available.

Essential Functions

  • Compiling documents and data provided by the UMass Chief Research Officer's (CRO) into a repository that they can access to share resources that can be helpful across the campuses.
  • Working with data related to research on our campuses to create spreadsheets with tables and graphs that can help us see areas of opportunity.
  • Posting AVP conference notes to be shared among the AASAE team.
  • Testing parts of the AASEA portal as it comes online and collecting survey data from portal users to help guide our development of it.
  • Helping to organize archived program/degree changes into a repository that would be searchable.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience)

  • Current UMass student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Creative, eager to learn, motivated, and willing to take the initiative on assigned projects/tasks.
  • Reliable and detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and possess good follow-up skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when interacting with staff.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to carry out some graphical analysis of data when using Excel.


Working Conditions

Hybrid work environment. Primarily located at the UMass President’s Office located at One Beacon Street, Boston, MA with remote work.
