Job Summary

The Account Coordinator supports the Intermodal & Truck Brokerage Operations department, coordinating daily freight load movements on a national scale while maintaining customer satisfaction in an extremely high-pressure, time-sensitive atmosphere.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Determine and secure the most profitable equipment type and/or transportation mode
  • Schedule pickup and delivery appointments per customer’s requirements
  • Procure and dispatch carriers
  • Communicate with carriers, customers, and railroads
  • Manage equipment pools
  • Ensure loads are picked up, moving on schedule and delivered on-time
  • Obtain arrival and departure times from carriers
  • Ensure timely termination of empty intermodal equipment
  • Process accessorial charges
  • Audit work orders
  • Analyze various reports that will assist in properly managing customer loads
  • Assist in the review and submittal of customer requests for pricing
  • Back up for other team members and/or team leader, as needed
  • Have availability to work outside office hours (evenings and weekends) as part of an on-call rotation

  • Regular and reliable attendance expected
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics or related field preferred
  • 3-5+ years of related work experience within transportation or logistics, and/or additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or similar area of study
  • Working knowledge of intermodal transportation preferred, but not required
  • Cost management experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and can work well under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook
