Job summary

ConGlobal is hiring immediately for an Intermodal Equipment Operator to move containers within our yard using hostlers, cranes, top loaders, and side loaders. Open availability is required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.

You will ensure safe, efficient container handling and coordinate with yard personnel to keep freight moving on time. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and pass pre-employment background and drug screenings.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in logistics preferred.
• Strong safety focus and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license; pre-employment background and drug screening.

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the yard.
• Use top loaders, side loaders, and cranes to stack and move containers.
• Perform Groundman duties during initial training period, assisting with railroad maintenance tasks.
• Perform equipment inspections before and after use to ensure safety.
• Coordinate moves with yard personnel and supervisors.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following established protocols.

About The Role

As an Intermodal Equipment Operator (also known as a Terminal Operator), you'll play a critical role in the safe and efficient movement of shipping containers within our intermodal yard. You’ll operate specialized equipment - such as hostlers, cranes, top loaders, and side loaders to load, unload, and relocate containers as part of our daily logistics operations. Your work ensures containers are handled accurately and safely, keeping freight moving on time.

Schedule

Schedule: Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the yard.
• Use top loaders, side loaders, and/or cranes to stack, move, and organize containers.
• Perform Groundman duties during the initial training period, assisting with railroad maintenance activities such as handling tools and materials, clearing debris from tracks, maintaining worksite safety, and supporting experienced crew members.
• Perform equipment inspections before and after use to ensure operational safety.
• Communicate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate moves and tasks.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following established protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in a logistics or industrial environment preferred
• Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
• Valid driver's license
• Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening

• The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in intermodal or rail yard operations.
• Familiarity with container handling equipment such as hostlers, top loaders, or cranes.
• CDL or equipment certifications a plus, but not required.
