Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Fargo, ND is seeking a Nurse Anesthetist for an intermittent, as-needed clinical role within the Surgical Care ICC.

The incumbent will assess, monitor, and provide IV sedation, conduction anesthesia or general anesthesia for patients and perform preoperative evaluations in a team-based setting. The position requires licensure in at least one US state, BLS and ACLS certifications, and the ability to participate in call rotations as determined by leadership.

Qualifications

• Licensure requirement: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
• Basic Life Support Certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and provide IV sedation, conduction anesthesia, or general anesthesia for patients
• Perform preoperative evaluation for surgical patients
• Participate in a team approach to ensure patient assessments, anticipate needs, prevent complications, and achieve optimal patient conditions
• Act in adherence to nursing care in accordance with ethical principles
• Function within scope of practice as delineated by Chief of Anesthesiology in collaboration with ACOS - Surgical Care ICC
• Participate in an even distribution of call as determined by the Chief of Anesthesiology/Chief CRNA in collaboration with the ACOS - Surgical Care ICC
• Follow anesthesia procedures including management of pain, life support, airway management, regional and local techniques, and various lines and monitoring
• Supervise and preceptor student nurse anesthetists if applicable
• Engage in in-service programs and complete trainings by due dates
