Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. seeks an Advanced Clinical Technician to provide designated direct and indirect patient care under licensed supervision. The role is the highest technical tier in acute nursing services, requiring advanced clinical competency and ongoing skill development across Jefferson Health departments.

Job Duties
  • Communicates effectively with the interprofessional team, patient, family, and designated care partners to support care delivery and patient flow.
  • Performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of licensed clinical team members of approved specialty care departments, demonstrating increased clinical competency and efficiency in completing assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs a broader range of patient care activities and technical skills aligned with training, certification, and department needs, within defined scope of role.
  • Applies critical thinking to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition, escalating concerns appropriately to licensed clinical team members.
  • Supports patient safety initiatives by adhering to established protocols, identifying potential risks, and contributing to a safe patient care environment.
  • Assists with coordination of care activities and patient throughput, supporting efficient unit operations.
  • Maintains required certifications and competencies, demonstrating ongoing skill development and adherence to best practices.
  • Provides guidance and support to new or less experienced team members in day-to-day tasks as appropriate, without formal supervisory responsibility.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies, equipment, and readiness of the clinical environment to support safe and efficient care delivery.
  • May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate or other support roles based on department or campus needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED 1 year of acute care, clinical experience or like patient setting required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team.
  • Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role, including advanced skills.
  • Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
  • Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care.
  • Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • AHA - American Heart Association
Additional Qualifications
  • Unit specific certification and completion of advanced clinical course(s) required.
  • Pennsylvania EMT, CNA or PCT
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
