Intermediate Restoration Technician

Location: Newark, DE
Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly

Position Overview

The Intermediate Restoration Technician plays a critical role in leading water damage mitigation projects involving residential and small commercial properties. This position requires strong technical knowledge of industry standards and hands‑on experience with water extraction equipment, drying systems, and moisture detection instruments.

Professionals in this role are responsible for evaluating the extent and distribution of moisture, documenting losses, supervising technicians, and assisting with complex restoration projects. Candidates should possess at least 12 months of relevant experience in water damage restoration and have participated in a minimum of 25 water damage projects.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and execute instructions provided by supervisors.
  • Ensure crews utilize the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Review daily project requirements, document progress, and communicate updates and challenges to management.
  • Prepare field documentation, photographic records, diagrams, and sketches as needed.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain company equipment.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail and high customer service standards.
  • Protect customer property by following company procedures and industry standards.
  • Work efficiently under strict deadlines.
  • Travel periodically and work evenings, weekends, or during emergency response situations when necessary.
  • Accurately record labor hours, equipment usage, and material consumption.
  • Attend company-sponsored operational and safety training programs.
Requirements
  • Perform and supervise water damage restoration activities.
  • Capture and upload project photographs and documentation.
  • Maintain and operate equipment used for debris removal, containment systems, drying chambers, wall cavity drying, pump systems, carpet removal, and baseboard removal.
  • Identify Class 4 materials and determine appropriate drying methods.
  • Assess structural materials and contents for direct and indirect water damage.
  • Determine whether restoration or replacement is the most effective solution.
  • Create moisture maps and maintain accurate records.
  • Supervise small crews and support larger restoration projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the IICRC S500 Water Damage Restoration Standard.
  • Working knowledge of the IICRC S520 Mold Remediation Standard.
  • Current IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification.
  • Familiarity with company water damage procedures and documentation standards.
  • Experience using moisture meters, infrared cameras, thermal hygrometers, and related equipment.
  • Ability to create sketches, interpret floor plans, complete moisture content logs, and establish drying goals.
  • Understanding of air mover calculations, dehumidification processes, and electrical systems.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting truck-mounted extraction systems.
  • Previous experience supervising crews of up to 10 employees on residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility to operate a company vehicle.
  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a sense of urgency.
  • Fluency in English.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting of more than 50 pounds.
  • Occasional assisted lifting of heavy materials.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to use mobile devices for timekeeping and data collection.
