Intermediate High Functioning Autistic Support Teacher

Central York School District (CYSD) is seeking a passionate and qualified Intermediate High Functioning Autistic Support Teacher (Grades 4–6) for the 2025–2026 school year at North Hills Elementary School. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with high-functioning autism by supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth. We seek an educator who is knowledgeable in special education practices, committed to building strong relationships, fostering student independence, and promoting a classroom culture of empathy, structure, and growth.

Full Job Description:
Elementary Grades 4-6 Teacher
192 Days Per Year

Job Summary:
Provide direct instruction and supervision of students, including planning, coordinating, and implementing district-wide instructional initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver instruction to assigned students according to district curriculum.
  • Maintain current certification and stay updated on instructional strategies, classroom management, and relevant technology.
  • Foster a positive school environment through observation, analysis, and intervention.
  • Supervise and manage student behavior in assigned areas.
  • Participate in curriculum development, material selection, staff development, and communication with parents.
  • Support curriculum and co-curricular activities based on expertise.
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with parents, students, and the community.
  • Refer students to counseling, health, and related services as needed.
  • Report on student progress as required.
  • Support the school's mission in all public interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate PA Certification for all areas of assignment.
  • Pedagogical skills for developing effective instructional programs.
  • Valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal Background Checks obtained within the last 12 months.
