Job summary

Whitetail Club in Idaho is seeking an experienced Intermediate Green Keeper to maintain our golf course and operate standard maintenance equipment. The role emphasizes efficient, safe practices and teamwork.

Job description

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS

To be successful in this position, the Intermediate Green Keeper must possess past experience in golf course maintenance with the ability to perform general course maintenance in operating basic equipment.

What You Get To Do
  • Operate equipment that is used in daily golf course maintenance.
  • Mow fairways, greens, roughs, tees, and aprons, and approach areas not accessible with gang mowers.
  • Rake sand traps with power rake, aerate greens and tees.
  • Operate sod cutter, spray rigs and may assist in the fertilization of greens, tees, fairways, roughs and related areas.
  • Maintain gasoline or diesel, oil and other equipment fluid levels daily.
  • Report equipment problems and failures to mechanic immediately.
  • Return equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility as directed by the mechanic or Assistant Superintendent properly cleaned and serviced.
  • Oversee other maintenance associates while performing duties that include operation of equipment. Ensure safety of teammates as well as training on proper operation of equipment.
  • Operate equipment safely and be aware of other associates in work area.
  • Maintain flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
  • Attends staff meetings and all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Mathematical Skills: May be required: to add, subtract, multiply, and divided in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Reasoning Ability: May be required: to apply common sense understanding of carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Vision Requirements: Regularly uses close, distance, color and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Environment/Noise: Regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) as well in areas with moving mechanical parts. Occasionally works in extreme cold or heat (non-weather); risk of electrical shock and vibration. Occasionally may work in high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
  • Language Skills: May be required: to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to write simple correspondence; to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization. Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
Desirable
  • Certificates/Licenses: Valid States Driver’s License
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
