Job summary

Turner & Townsend seeks an Intermediate Cost Engineer with a construction background to support a major capital program. This client-facing role focuses on cost reporting, forecasting, change management, and risk identification to inform decisions.

You will prepare monthly cost reports, assist with budgets and WBS, and collaborate with PMs, contractors, and engineers to ensure accurate forecasts and dashboards. On-site requirements may vary with client needs.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years in cost engineering, project controls, or related roles.
• Experience supporting construction or large capital projects.
• Proficiency in cost reporting, forecasting, budgeting, change management, and project reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain monthly cost reports, forecasts, and trend analyses.
• Analyze project cost data to identify risks, opportunities, and variances.
• Support development and maintenance of budgets, CBS, and WBS.
• Implement and maintain change management processes, including trend tracking.
• Track commitments, expenditures, accruals, and contingency usage.
• Support cost forecasting, ETC analysis, and cash flow reporting.
• Assist with project controls dashboards and performance reports.
• Provide cost engineering support during planning, execution, and closeout.
• Collaborate with PMs, contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Maintain project controls documentation per procedures.
• Support benchmarking and lessons learned data collection.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role.

Job Description

Turner & Townsend seeks an Intermediate Cost Engineer with a construction background to work in a client-facing role supporting a major capital construction program. The role provides cost engineering services across multiple projects, with a focus on cost reporting, forecasting, change management, and identifying project risks and opportunities to support informed project decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and trend analyses.
• Analyze project cost data to identify risks, opportunities, and potential variances.
• Support development and maintenance of project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and work breakdown structures (WBS).
• Implement and maintain project change management processes, including trend tracking and impact assessments.
• Track commitments, expenditures, accruals, and contingency usage throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project teams with cost forecasting, estimate-to-complete analysis, and cash flow reporting.
• Assist with the preparation and review of project controls dashboards, metrics, and performance reports.
• Provide cost engineering support during project planning, execution, and closeout phases.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
• Maintain project controls documentation and records in accordance with established procedures.
• Support benchmarking, lessons learned, and historical cost data collection initiatives.
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, estimating, cost management, or construction project support roles.
• Experience supporting construction, industrial, manufacturing, or large capital projects.
• Understanding of cost control, forecasting, budgeting, change management, and project reporting principles.
• Experience preparing and reviewing cost reports, forecasts, budgets, and project performance metrics.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities from project data.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project controls software.
• Familiarity with SAP, EcoSys, Primavera, or similar systems is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with a client-focused approach.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, project controls, or a related field preferred.
