Job summary

West Star Aviation in Perryville, Missouri is seeking an Interior Technician for 2nd shift to work on sophisticated private aircraft interiors, including removal and installation of carpeting, insulation, soundproofing and fabric accessories. Duties vary by type and scope as designated by the Interior Team Leader.

The role requires teamwork, adherence to FAA guidelines, and the ability to perform mechanical tasks with basic electrical work, tool usage and strong attention to safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; passport ideal.
  • Ability to read and follow manuals and blueprints.
  • Capacity to lift at least 50 lbs and work in a hangar.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical items on aircraft interiors and related systems.
  • Perform minor modifications with minimal direction.
  • Complete daily turnover sheets, work orders, and weight/balance data.
  • Maintain and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling.
  • Use basic computer tools to access training and maintenance data.
  • Keep the work area clean and safe; follow all safety rules.
  • Communicate effectively in English and work with supervision.

What you can expect as an Interior Technician at West Star:

As an Interior technician you will be working on some of the most sophisticated private aircraft in the world. Duties can include removal and installation of carpeting, insulation, sound proofing and fabric accessories; varying amounts of parts replacement/repair, basic electrical system installation, modifications, refurbishments and general mechanical applications on aircraft interiors. Job duties will vary by type and scope, as designated by the Interior Team Leader.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including
  • Performing general mechanical items on aircraft interiors and related systems.
  • Performing minor modifications with minimal direction.
  • Performing daily turnover sheets, work order processes and weight and balance data.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases.
  • Cleanliness of shop and surroundings.
  • Work independently when required.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you:

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required.
Your Initiative

We’re looking for team players who are self‑motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.

Your Sense Of Responsibility
  • Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer oriented work habits.
  • Assist in major modification work as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
  • Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
Mental Requirements
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.
  • Plan and organize procedures and operations.
  • Read various reports and blue prints.
Supervision
  • Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Interior Management.
  • May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
  • Work with minimal supervision when required.
Working Conditions
  • The majority of work will be performed in a hangar or shop environment.
  • Work outside on the ramp on occasion.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.
  • Sheet metal cutters, glue guns, and metal benders.
  • Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
  • Spray booth and all related equipment.
Compensation & Benefit Information

Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
