Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced Interior Systems Engineer to lead concept development and detailed design of cabin systems across multiple development stages. You will conceptualize, design, engineer, and support the launch of full vehicle interior components.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in interior subsystem design, and strong 3D CAD skills (NX, Catia, 3DX).

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education/experience.
• 5+ years designing, developing interior subsystems and parts.
• 5+ years using 3D CAD software (NX, Catia, 3DX).
• 2+ years of team lead experience.
• 3+ years in production release processes.
• 3+ years in factory launches of new products.
• System level management experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop interior system requirements and specs with cross-functional teams.
• Set targets for function, cost, weight and investment.
• Develop 3D geometry and concepts balancing manufacturing methods.
• Optimize designs with analyses and federal regulations compliance.
• Apply GD&T to ensure craftsmanship and fit/finish.
• Study novel construction methods and drive production feasibility.
• Communicate with Studio, Packaging, Advanced Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.

The Interior Systems Engineer will be responsible for concept development and detailed design of the cabin systems through multiple stages of development. You will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of full vehicle interior components.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop interior system requirements and specifications while developing geometry and the engineering execution in conjunction with design, supply chain, and other core teams.
• Create vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and investment.
• Develop 3D geometry and innovative designs concepts that solve challenging crash load cases while balancing construction, material, and manufacturing methods
• Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments, ensuring conformation to federal regulations governing assigned systems.
• Deliver world-class craftsmanship and fit/finish through the proper implementation of GD&T.
• Develop, study, and implement novel construction techniques and materials then drive them to production feasibility
• Enable effective communications with Studio, Packaging, Advanced Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier activities to deliver optimal design solutions
• Support presentations of concepts and status to senior management and internally to Company personnel

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and releasing one or more interior subsystem and adjoining parts including component manufacturing and assembly processes
• 5+ years of experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively (NX, Catia, 3DX, etc.)
• 2+ years of team lead experience
• 3+ years of experience in the production release process
• 3+ years of experience in a factory setting launching a new product
• System level management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Engineering
• Excellent understanding of GD&T standards
• High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools including drawing and modeling practices and methodologies
• Hands‑on experience building and launching automotive products
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other information management tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using Confluence, Jira, Asana, or other project management tools
• An eagerness to work cross‑functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
• A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement

Salary Range

• $145,000 - 160,000
• The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job‑related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
