Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking an Interior Painter for the Houston Airports (HAS) Maintenance division. The role involves painting, restoration, and refinishing across HAS facilities, with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

Requires basic schooling, two years of painting experience, and a Texas driver's license (CDL-H may be needed for hazardous materials). Preference will be given to candidates with wood finishing, drywall experience, and knowledge of building trades.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through (9) nine to (11) eleven years of formal schooling.
• Two years of experience as a painter are required.
• Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
• May require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an "H" endorsement for transporting hazardous material.
• Preference given to applicants with experience in wood finishing, industrial painting and drywall.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and implements work orders and assignments.
• Identifies, prepares, and obtains required materials, supplies and equipment to complete assignments.
• Performs general painting, restoration, and refinishing techniques, e.g., spray and brush painting, varnishing, priming, scraping, floating, and taping.
• Repairs damaged surfaces.
• Mixes and blends paint to match colors.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools.
• Maintains a safe and clean work area.
