Job summary

LTTS in Ohio is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for Instrument Panel (IP) and Console development. Responsibilities include packaging heavy components, CAD modeling in CATIA V5/V6, and ensuring FMVSS compliance. You will work with styling, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to deliver ergonomic, manufacturable dashboards.

The role focuses on bridging aesthetic styling with mass manufacturing, with emphasis on plastic injection molding, HVAC routing, and crash safety considerations.

Qualifications

• PSC on-site full time at OEM, Ohio location; act as PIC and window to LTTS Near Shore/Offshore PSCs.
• Understanding OEM development flow, including overall project schedule and milestones.
• High level CATIA V5 and CATIA V6 capability.
• Ability to work with styling, suppliers, and factory to support OEMs best interests.
• Understanding part/assembly cost drivers and design methods to meet development targets.

Responsibilities

• Component Packaging: integrating heavy components into dashboard constraints with wiring/HVAC
• Mechanical Design: create 3D/2D layouts using CATIA for center consoles, trim pieces, glove boxes
• Testing & Verification: ensure dashboard/console meet safety and FMVSS requirements
• Manufacturing Feasibility: design parts for assembly, tooling and injection molding
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: coordinate with styling studios, testing, suppliers, and factories
