Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. in Grand Junction, CO seeks an Interior Cabinet Technician to fabricate high quality furniture and wood subassemblies for installation in world class business aircraft. Primary duties include cabinet removal/installation, modifications, repair, refurbishment, and fabrication, with tasks designated by the Team Leader.

Tech I–Master Tech levels cover 0–2 up to 6+ years in aviation or related fields. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Tech I: 0-2 years of experience in aviation, auto, RV, Marine or related field
• Tech II: 2 - 4 years of experience in aviation, auto, RV, Marine or related field
• Tech III: 4-6 years of experience in aviation, auto, RV, Marine or related field
• Master Tech: 6+ years’ experience in aviation interiors

Responsibilities

• Performing general mechanical functions on aircraft cabinets and related systems. This includes items such as removal and installation of cabinets, modification, re-laminating, veneering or fabrication of new cabinets.
• Ability to perform minor modifications
• Perform daily turnover sheets
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
• Cleanliness of shop and surroundings
• Work independently when required
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

What you can expect as an Interior Cabinet Technician at West Star:

As an interior cabinet technician you will be fabricating complex high quality furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies for installation in world class business aircraft. Some of the tasks you may be required to complete include parts replacements or repair, basic electrical system installation and general mechanical applications. Modifications, repair, refurbishment and fabrication of aircraft cabinets are the primary functions. Job duties will vary each day and are designated by the Team Leader in charge of that project.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

A High school diploma or equivalent

Your Experience

Tech I

0-2 years of experience in aviation, auto, RV, Marine or related field

These technicians have very limited to no knowledge of the position

This level requires close supervision and constant check ins on work performance

Tech II

2 - 4 years of experience in aviation, auto, RV, Marine or related field

Considerable knowledge of the job with a broad understanding of detailed aspects

Will need general supervision and instructions

Tech III

4-6 years of experience in aviation, auto, RV, Marine or related field

Full knowledge of the job and complete understanding of detailed aspects

Limited supervision is required

No instruction needed and can act as a trainer or mentor to other technicians

Master Tech

6+ years’ experience in aviation interiors

Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job

This technician is a subject matter expert with a wide and comprehensive knowledge of the job
