Job summary

The Administrator on Assignment at KIPP DC supports an affirming, joyful culture for students, builds strong relationships, and collaborates with colleagues to address academic and social-emotional needs. The role serves on a school's leadership team, with responsibilities aligned to drive excellence and equitable outcomes.

The position is flexible across early childhood to high school depending on need and candidate expertise; it reports to the Chief of Schools and is exempt.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum four years lead teaching core subjects (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Special Education).
  • Minimum one year of experience in a school leadership position (Vice Principal, Dean, Instructional Coach, Principal, etc.).
  • Demonstrated academic results and leadership experience.
  • Proven record of timeliness, attendance, reliability and responsiveness.
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC’s anti-racist mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead school-wide vision and motivate staff to achieve school goals.
  • Collaborate with principal to determine team priorities and manage time.
  • Foster an affirming, inclusive school culture and PBIS systems.
  • Coach teachers, support instructional commitments, and facilitate meetings.
  • Develop fair employment practices and lead hiring processes when applicable.
  • Oversee school operational systems (arrival/dismissal, meals, COVID operations).
