Job summary

S+H Search is seeking experienced Interim Controllers and Accounting Leaders for consulting engagements across multiple industries. These roles involve stepping into new environments, solving problems, improving processes, and delivering an immediate impact on financial operations.

Engagements may be onsite, hybrid, or remote and range from short-term projects to several-month assignments. Strong Excel and ERP systems experience, plus PE-backed / acquisitions exposure, are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience as Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader.
• Experience in interim/consulting assignments preferred.
• Private equity-backed experience is a strong plus, especially with acquisitions and integrations.
• Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close.
• Experience leading accounting teams and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Interim controller coverage during leadership transitions.
• Backfill a controller during extended vacancy.
• Support M&A, acquisition, or integration projects.

SEEKING INTERIM CONTROLLERS – CONSULTING ENGAGEMENTS

We are actively building a network of experienced Interim Controllers and Accounting Leaders for a variety of consulting engagements with companies across multiple industries.

These opportunities are ideal for experienced Controllers who enjoy stepping into new environments, solving problems, improving processes, and making an immediate impact.

Pay is based on DOE and Engagement budget

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Experienced Controllers, Assistant Controllers, and Senior Accounting Leaders interested in interim or consulting assignments
• Open to candidates from all industries and company sizes
• Private Equity-backed experience is a strong plus, especially experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or rapid-growth environments
• Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close
• Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• General ledger management and account reconciliations
• Internal controls and process improvement
• Audit coordination and financial statement preparation
• Ability to assess accounting operations and identify opportunities for improvement
• Experience leading accounting teams and working cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP systems experience
• Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and business environments

Our consulting engagements can vary based on the client's needs and may include:

• Interim Controller coverage during a leadership transition
• Backfilling a Controller during a leave or extended vacancy

• Internal control and audit readiness initiatives
• ERP implementations or accounting system transitions
• Supporting PE-backed companies through periods of growth or transition
• Special projects requiring experienced accounting leadership

WORK ARRANGEMENT

Engagements may be onsite, hybrid, or remote, depending on the client, location, and specific project requirements.

Assignments may range from short-term projects to several-month interim engagements, with the potential for additional consulting opportunities based on performance and client needs.
