Description du poste

We are seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer to provide hands-on financial leadership for a rapidly scaling, institutionally backed government contracting business.

The Interim CFO will partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to strengthen the company's financial infrastructure, establish scalable reporting and FP&A capabilities, enhance government contracting cost accounting and pricing disciplines, and support the company's acquisition strategy.

The ideal candidate combines strategic CFO leadership with the ability and willingness to operate hands-on in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic and financial partner to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Identify opportunities to drive revenue growth, margin improvement, cash flow, and cost optimization.
  • Deliver accurate, decision-ready financial information to management, the Board, and financial sponsors.
  • Maintain strong visibility into EBITDA, cash flow, quality of earnings, and other key performance metrics.
  • Build and strengthen scalable FP&A, accounting, reporting, and financial-control processes.
  • Establish disciplined monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Develop and maintain 13-week cash flow forecasts, 12-month and multi-year three-statement forecasts, and contract-level revenue forecasting.
  • Strengthen budget-to-actual and rolling forecast discipline.
  • Establish contract-level profitability visibility, including revenue, operating margin, funded backlog, and estimates at completion.
  • Ensure audit readiness and reliable financial reporting.
  • Strengthen FAR/CAS-compliant cost accounting, indirect-rate management, provisional-to-actual reconciliations, and DCAA audit readiness.
  • Develop rigorous EAC and margin-at-completion processes to identify and address underperforming programs.
  • Support pricing and rate strategy across Cost Plus, Firm Fixed Price, Time & Materials, and OTA contract structures.
  • Partner with growth leadership to connect backlog, pipeline, bookings, and revenue forecasting.
  • Provide financial leadership around pricing, bid/no-bid decisions, contract economics, and major program pursuits.
  • Support the organization’s buy-and-build strategy, including financial diligence, transaction structuring support, and synergy analysis.
  • Develop and execute an integration playbook covering financial systems, reporting consolidation, indirect-rate harmonization, and contract novation.
  • Support financing activities and management of balance-sheet capacity for acquisitions and growth initiatives.
  • Maintain effective lender relationships and support ongoing compliance with financing obligations.
  • Assess, develop, and strengthen the existing finance organization.
  • Build a scalable finance function capable of supporting significant growth and increased institutional rigor.
  • Evaluate and implement ERP and financial systems appropriate for a growing, multi-entity government contractor.
  • Instill greater financial discipline and accountability across the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Previous CFO or senior finance leadership experience in a private equity-backed business.
  • Significant experience scaling a business through periods of rapid growth and increasing organizational complexity.
  • Deep government contracting finance expertise, including FAR/CAS, indirect rates, cost accounting, and DCAA audit readiness.
  • Strong understanding of government contract pricing and economics across CP, FFP, T&M, and OTA vehicles.
  • Track record of building FP&A, reporting, accounting, systems, and controls in an entrepreneurial or founder-led environment.
  • Hands-on experience selecting and implementing ERP or financial systems, ideally within GovCon.
  • Demonstrated experience building and developing high-performing finance teams.
  • M&A experience encompassing financial diligence, integration, and synergy/value realization.
  • Ability to operate effectively with CEOs, founders, Boards, private equity sponsors, lenders, and senior operating executives.
  • Executive-level strategic capabilities combined with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves operating style.
