MBO Partners is seeking a seasoned CFO to provide strategic leadership with deep accounting expertise. The role involves building scalable processes, strengthening controls, and guiding a controllership infrastructure in a private equity-backed environment.

The candidate will lead hands-on transformation, assess the current accounting organization, and set up an operational structure that supports rapid growth while aligning with business objectives and investor expectations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of CFO-level experience with accounting and controllership responsibilities.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of accounting principles, processes, controls, and financial operations.
  • Experience leading accounting organizations and implementing new processes.
  • Experience in organizations generating $50M–$100M+ in annual revenue.
  • Private equity-backed or post-acquisition experience preferred.
  • Experience in financial services/finance industry preferred.
  • Strong ability to balance hands-on work with executive leadership.

  • Establish and optimize accounting and controllership processes, policies, and operational structure.
  • Assess the existing accounting organization and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and scalability.
  • Provide hands-on leadership across the Accounting and Controller functions.
  • Develop and implement best practices to support the company’s continued growth following its private equity acquisition.
  • Strengthen financial processes, reporting, controls, and overall accounting operations.
  • Partner with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders to align accounting operations with business objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on accounting matters and serve as a hands-on financial leader during the transformation.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a seasoned CFO who combines strategic leadership with deep accounting expertise and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build processes, improve controls, and establish an effective accounting and controllership infrastructure. Experience working in a private equity-backed environment and leading organizations through operational transformation is highly valued.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a proven CFO who can assess the current accounting environment, establish scalable processes and operational structure, and strengthen the overall accounting organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and optimize accounting and controllership processes, policies, and operational structure.
  • Assess the existing accounting organization and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and scalability.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership and strategic direction across the Accounting and Controller functions.
  • Develop and implement best practices to support the company’s continued growth following its private equity acquisition.
  • Strengthen financial processes, reporting, controls, and overall accounting operations.
  • Partner with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders to align accounting operations with business objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on accounting matters and serve as a hands‑on financial leader during the transformation.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of true CFO-level experience with significant responsibility for Accounting and Controllership functions.
  • Deep, hands‑on knowledge of accounting principles, processes, controls, and financial operations.
  • Experience leading and optimizing accounting organizations and implementing new processes and operational structures.
  • Ideally, experience managing financial operations within an organization generating $50M–$100M+ in annual revenue.
  • Private equity‑backed or post‑acquisition experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience within the financial services/finance industry is preferred.
  • Strong ability to operate hands‑on while also providing executive‑level leadership and strategic direction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification is a plus but not required.
