Entertimeonline seeks an Interim Campus Minister to support the Catholic Campus Ministry at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. This part-time, interim role requires up to 15 hours per week and evening/weekend availability during the academic year.

The minister provides onsite pastoral care, coordinates ministry programming and events, maintains the facility, and collaborates with the Chaplain and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in theology or pastoral ministry; master's degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of pastoral work experience, ideally campus ministry.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of Church teachings and ability to relate to young adults.
• Exceptional people skills, empathy, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Be present at student events and ensure logistical support.
• Provide in-person pastoral care on campus.
• Run errands for the ministry (groceries, prints, store).
• Maintain facility cleanliness and care.
• Report ministry updates to the Associate Director and alert issues promptly.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Description

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond, Office for Evangelization is seeking and Interim Campus Minister to serve the Catholic Campus Ministry at James Madison University.

The Interim Campus Minister serves the Catholic Campus Ministry at James Madison University by providing onsite pastoral and logistical support ministry programming and events. The Interim Campus Minister also provides a regular staff presence at the facility interacting with students and providing ministerial support as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Is present for student events and ensures events have proper logistical support
• Works alongside the Chaplain and other staff members to provide in-person pastoral care to students while they are on campus
• Runs errands for the ministry such as picking up groceries, getting print items from the shop, and going to the store
• Ensures that the facility is clean and cared for
• Reports ministry updates regularly to the Associate Director for Campus Ministry and alerts him or her to any student concerns in a timely manner.
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in a field related to theology or pastoral ministry is required.
• 1-3 years of prior experience in pastoral work, preferably campus ministry
• Practicing Catholic in good standing.
• Thorough knowledge of Church teachings and theology with the ability to relate that knowledge to young adults in a campus ministry setting
• Exceptional people skills
• Ability to empathize with others
• Self-motivated, works easily alone or with others
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

This is an interim part-time position (up to 15 hours/week), non-exempt professional ministry position. Night and weekend work is necessary primarily during the academic year. Regular, weekly schedule will be required. A physical presence on the local campus is required on a weekly basis as well.
