Job summary

Waterford Public Schools seeks an Interim Girls Volleyball Coach for Waterford High School for the Fall 2026–2027 season. The role may lead JV or Freshman teams based on coaching experience and fit.

The coach will lead practices, manage games, and develop players while collaborating with the varsity staff to ensure program consistency. CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required, along with CT Coaching Certification.

Qualifications

• CT Coaching Certification Required.
• Ability to obtain or possess CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
• Previous competitive volleyball experience as a coach or high-level player.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily practices focusing on fundamental skills, volleyball IQ, and team strategy.
• Coach all scheduled games, tournaments, and scrimmages with effective playing-time management.
• Provide constructive feedback to players to improve individual skills and conditioning.
• Collaborate with the Interim Varsity Head Coach to align with program philosophy and systems.
• Ensure student-athlete safety during practices and games; maintain equipment and first-aid supplies.
• Maintain professional communication with players, parents, athletic director, and opponents regarding schedules and rules.

Waterford Public Schools is seekinga passionate, reliable, and positive Interim Girls Volleyball Coach at Waterford High Schooleffective for the Fall 2026–2027 season.

This temporary position will lead either our Junior Varsity (JV) or Freshman team, with the final placement determined by the candidate’s coaching experience, skill set, and organizational fit. As an interim coach, you will be responsible for fostering a competitive, supportive, and growth-oriented environment that prepares student-athletes for varsity-level play and instills life skills through sportsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Plan, organize, and execute daily practices focused on fundamental skill development, volleyball IQ, and team strategy.
• Game Management: Coach all scheduled games, tournaments, and scrimmages, managing playing time and in-game adjustments effectively.
• Player Development: Provide constructive feedback to athletes to improve individual skills, rotational awareness, and physical conditioning.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Interim Varsity Head Coach to ensure alignment with the overall program philosophy, terminology, and defensive/offensive systems.
• Safety & Supervision: Ensure student-athlete safety at all times during practices, games, and transit. Maintain inventory of team equipment and first-aid kits.
• Communication: Maintain professional and timely communication with players, parents, the athletic director, and opposing coaches regarding schedules, expectations, and team rules.
• Character Building: Model and promote good sportsmanship, academic accountability, and the school’s code of conduct.

QualificationsEDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

• CT Coaching Certification Required.
• Ability to obtain or possess current CPR/First Aid/AED certification

Experience:

Previous competitive volleyball experience (as a coach or high-level player).

Availability:

Must be available for all weekday afternoon/evening practices and game schedules, including occasional weekend matches, for the duration of the Fall 2026 season.

Please Note:

This is a one-season, interim appointment strictly for the 2026–2027 fall season. The position will conclude at the end of the season and will not be available for the following year.
