Job summary

Meijer Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support patient care and prescription processing. You will assist customers, enter data, fill prescriptions, and help manage inventory under supervision.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school with a state-specific intern license, a positive attitude, and strong communication skills. Prioritization and confidentiality are essential in this fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Customer service and assisting patients with product selection.
• Communicating with patients in person and by phone; assisting with pricing.
• Processing and filling prescriptions.
• Using pharmacy computer system for data entry and third-party adjudication.
• Pulling products, counting and labeling prescriptions at fill station.
• Inventory management and balance on hand; ordering and receiving stock.
• Third-party functions and health screening/immunization support after training.
• Assist with MTM platforms and related services when applicable.

The person selected for this position will be responsible for having basic pharmacy knowledge to provide customer service, to process and fill prescriptions, to provide third party functions, to manage inventory, and to provide clinical services.

What You'll be Doing:

• Customer service.
• Communicating with patients in person and via telephone; assisting patients with product selection; obtaining medication prices (internally and from competitors) pursuant to patient requests.
• Processing and filling prescriptions.
• Using pharmacy computer system for prescription data entry & third party adjudication; pulling correct products from the shelf; counting and labeling prescriptions appropriately at fill station; receiving new prescriptions from patients, selling prescriptions to patients at the Will Call station.
• Third-party functions.
• Inventory management.
• Updating balance on hand (BOH); product ordering; looking up Meijer codes; checking-in and putting away orders; processing vendor charge backs (VCBs)/transfers/salvage.
• Clinical services.

• Knowledge of brand/generic medication names; knowledge of applicable medical/pharmacy terminology; knowledge about various dosage forms; ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations.
