Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is seeking a student researcher to join NETL's Research Innovation Center in Pittsburgh for an Intelligent Document Processing project. The role provides mentorship from NETL staff and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams on open‑source IDP software for energy infrastructure records.

Qualifications

Pursuing a graduate degree in computer science, information science, or another relevant STEM field.
Previous experience with web development, machine learning, databases, and cloud platforms using Python and JavaScript.
Version control with Git.

Responsibilities

Test and validate open-source methods for extracting structured data from scanned records.
Integrate open-source large language models into IDP research software.
Take part in the improvement of user interface and user experience of IDP research software.
