Job summary

CGS seeks an Intelligence Technical Writer embedded with the J8 Acquisition Division to develop and update intelligence requirement documentation. You will be the primary J2 action officer for ICDs, CDDs, and CPDs, coordinating with J8 leadership to meet POAM timelines.

Based at Fort Liberty, NC, this full-time mid-level role requires strong MS Office skills and IC/DoD knowledge, translating complex concepts into clear documents for JCIDS, SOCREB, and JROC approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a professional environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of the DoD and Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate into easily understandable documents.
  • Capable of juggling multiple complex documentation tasks with little oversight.
  • Comfort with frequent interaction with site government and contractor personnel for documentation.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint and MS Office tools; familiarity with FrameMaker and Arbortext.

CGS is seeking a skilledIntelligence Technical Writer to support the development and updating of all intelligence-related capability requirements in conjunction with the J8 requirement documentation process. In this role you will serve as the primary action officer from the J2 on all technical requirement documentation efforts. Embedded with the J8 Acquisition Division, you will provide integrated support to J8 personnel as prioritized and approved by the Deputy Director for Intelligence (or division-level leadership from the Tech, Security, and Support (TSS) Division or the Division for SIGINT/CNE & OSINT (DSCO) in the absence of the Deputy Director.

Skills and attributes for success:
  • Have the requisite knowledge to support Government representatives in formally documenting the J2 directorates requirements, to include, but not limited to, Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), and Capability Production Document (CPDs)
  • Assist in recommending a Program of Objectives, Achievements, & Milestones (POAM) for each document development or updated effort and will coordinate a meeting schedule to ensure the project achieves all timelines and deadlines listed in the POAM
  • Assemble and retain all necessary reference documents, liaise with all stakeholders, and disseminate meeting notes and project updates
  • Provide initial recommendations and documentation drafts with technical language to accurately depict the key attributes of the intelligence requirement
  • Review and edit final document versions checking for technical accuracy, overall clarity, and style integrity (aka common voice)
  • Support government representatives during the requirement approval process
  • Assist with formal submission through the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
  • Prepare supporting products such as white papers, background papers, and briefings in support of key engagements and final approval through the Special Operations Command Requirements Evaluation Board (SOCREB) and the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC)
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum four (4) years of experience working in a professional environment in lieu of a degree
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of the DoD and Intelligence Community (IC)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate into easily understandable documents
  • Must be capable of juggling multiple complex documentation tasks with little or no oversight, while also working effectively within a documentation team to support varying workloads
  • Must be comfortable with frequent interaction with site government and contractor personnel as it pertains to the development of technical documentation including user manuals, test plans and procedures, specifications, white papers, and equipment and/or systems training materials and technology description documents
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and other technologies, specifically: MS Word, Power Point, Visio Adobe Professional
  • SharePoint skills
  • Some knowledge of Photo Shop (or equivalent photo SW)
  • Will ideally be familiar with Adobe FrameMaker and PTC Arbor Text
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI
