Vanguard-IP in Houston, TX seeks a patent professional with experience in medical device technologies, including surgical, robotics-assisted, and cardiovascular tools. You will draft and prosecute patent applications in the U.S. and worldwide, perform freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses, and manage patent portfolios.
The ideal candidate holds a mechanical engineering degree, has excellent academic credentials and writing skills, and is registered with the USPTO. PhD is not required.
The ideal candidate will have experience with a range of medical device technologies, including surgical devices for spine, knee, ankle as well as robotics-assisted devices and potentially cardiovascular tools. Experience drafting and prosecuting such medical device patent applications (both in the U.S. and worldwide); conducting freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses; performing due diligence; handling patent procurement services, and generally managing patent portfolios is essential. Ideal candidates will have an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in mechanical engineering; Ph.D. not required. An excellent academic record and strong analytical and writing skills are required. A license in good standing in the resident state and registration before the USPTO are also required.
