Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an engineer to join the team working on reusable rocket technology, focusing on rapid and reliable processing and re-flight of fairings recovered from space. You will support refurbishment, testing, and integration of fairing flight hardware and ground support equipment.

Collaborate daily with engineers and technicians to disposition nonconformances, manage multiple priorities, and improve reliability while reducing labor hours to help missions for customers and Starlink.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics.
• 1+ years hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and/or fluid systems (projects or internships).

Overview

Responsibilities

• Work on the cutting edge of reusable rocket technology by developing methods for rapid and reliable processing and re-flight of fairings recovered from the edge of space.
• Provide engineering support for fairing refurbishment, testing, and re-flight.
• Develop and execute procedures for the integration and testing of SpaceX fairing flight hardware and ground support equipment to support both customer and Starlink missions.
• Collaborate daily with engineering staff from other departments and skilled technicians to disposition nonconformances and execute the launch manifest.
• Manage and track multiple priorities while focusing on achieving common program goals, including improving reliability and reducing overall labor hours.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in an engineering discipline or physics
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and/or fluid systems (class projects and/or internship experience qualify)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in or hands-on experience with one or more: launch vehicle or spacecraft integration; operations in 100,000-class or better clean rooms; test operations with gases/fluids; data acquisition setup and field measurements
• Experience in writing test plans and test procedures
• Experience interacting with CAD software and large CAD models
• Experience working with high-pressure systems, crane operations, or large structure test stands
• Ability to rapidly adapt roles and responsibilities in a high-paced, challenging environment
• Ability to work well in a team and communicate clearly with a wide range of people
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills

Additional Requirements

• Ability to pass background checks as required by customers and facilities
• Ability to work at elevated heights and/or in tight spaces
• Willingness to travel, potentially for extended periods
• Physical ability to stand, lift and carry moderately heavy materials or equipment (up to 35 lbs)
• Occasional exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Available to work extended hours, nights, and weekends when required by mission milestones

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: Level 1: $100,000.00 - $117,500.00; Level 2: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is one part of SpaceX\'s total rewards package, which may include long-term incentives, bonuses, and the ability to purchase stock through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
