Job description

Integration & Test Engineer

Albers Aerospace McKinney, Texas, United States

About this position

Our core competencies include systems engineering, program management, logistics, production support, aircraft maintenance, and aviation/aerospace services. We were founded in 2015 and since our establishment, we have been attracting the best talent in our fields of interest enabling us to provide cutting-edge solutions and support to our warfighters. We understand and provide expert consultation on weapons systems acquisition programs, maintenance/modernization programs, and sustainment programs. We know defense and we know aircraft systems.

Albers Aerospace is seeking an experienced Integration and Test Engineer knowledgeable of the full product lifecycle of testing including planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of both developmental and qualification test activities.

This role combines hands‑on test engineering with significant logistical and planning responsibilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in dynamic environments, learning new skillsets, coordinating complex test activities, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and keeping test hardware, schedules, documentation, and resources organized throughout the test lifecycle.

The successful candidate will have prior test experience, practice in systems engineering methods, strong engineering fundamentals, discipline and organization, and the ability to adapt when conditions change quickly. This person should be equally comfortable preparing a test plan, coordinating shipment of test articles, supporting live‑fire testing in the field, troubleshooting basic network or equipment issues, and helping turn test results into clear, complete documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.

This position is expected to support field tests and meetings with supplier partners, which will require some travel, occasionally on short notice.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development, review, and maintenance of test plans, test procedures, test matrices, and other common test documentation.
  • Coordinate and support execution of developmental, qualification, and system‑level testing.
  • Participate in field and live‑fire test activities and provide hands‑on engineering support during test execution.
  • Help coordinate test schedules, facilities, ranges, personnel, equipment, instrumentation, and other resources required for successful test events.
  • Maintain accurate accountability of test articles, hardware, configurations, quantities, and disposition throughout the test program.
  • Regularly communicate status of test objectives to stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Coordinate shipment, receipt, staging, and movement of test hardware and support equipment.
  • Track test prerequisites, open actions, hardware availability, documentation status, and overall test readiness.
  • Support test readiness reviews and other pre‑test planning activities.
  • Monitor test execution, document test conditions and anomalies, and help ensure test objectives are completed and properly recorded.
  • Adapt test activities to changing field conditions while maintaining test objectives, configuration control, and safety requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, instrumentation, communications, and basic issues encountered during test preparation and execution.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams, technicians, program leadership, customers, suppliers, test facilities, and range personnel.
  • Collect, organize, and review test data and supporting documentation.
  • Support preparation of test reports, test summaries, discrepancy documentation, and other post‑test deliverables.
  • Proactively identify risks, resource conflicts, schedule issues, and test constraints, working to mitigate them and communicate them clearly to program leadership.
  • Help improve test processes, documentation, organization, and lessons learned across the program.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 5-10 years of engineering experience, with a focus on test and evaluation activities at the system and subsystem levels.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, or executing engineering test procedures, and generating formal engineering test reports and presenting to customers or program leadership.
  • Experience supporting hands‑on testing in field, laboratory, range, or similarly dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems, adapt when test conditions change unexpectedly, and clearly communicate emerging problems.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage schedules, hardware, documentation, and multiple concurrent activities.
  • Established ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, technicians, customers, and external test organizations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to support test activities as required.
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, high‑speed cameras, telemetry, radios, or other test equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with live‑fire, environmental, qualification, developmental, or operational testing.
  • Experience coordinating test activities with military ranges, government test facilities, laboratories, or external vendors.
  • Training, Certifications, or experience in munitions handling and loading, to support test events.
  • Experience coordinating shipping and logistics for test hardware, support equipment, or hazardous materials.
  • Familiarity with test standards, qualification requirements, or verification and validation processes following MIL‑STD requirements.
  • Basic understanding of computer networking, including IP addressing, Ethernet‑based devices, and general connectivity troubleshooting.
Desired Characteristics

To blend in with the established Albers culture, the strongest candidate will:

  • Have a strong bias toward action, accountability, and doing what is necessary for the team regardless of job title.
  • Be comfortable taking ownership of a test activity rather than waiting for detailed direction.
  • Remain effective when plans change or unexpected problems arise in the field.
  • Be highly organized and attentive to details such as hardware quantities, configurations, schedules, shipments, and documentation.
  • Learn new systems and test environments quickly.
  • Balance technical rigor with the practical realities of executing complex tests.
  • Be willing to step outside a narrowly defined engineering role when needed to keep a test event moving.
